West Garrett Dance Company

What is West Garrett Dance Company?
West Garrett Dance Company is a non-profit organization committed to providing dance students
with extra opportunities for performance and personal growth.
Company students may take extra classes, participate in various performances throughout the
year, compete at various competitions and take master classes at dance conventions.
How do I join Company?
First, express interest. Show Miss Lori and let her know that you are interested.
At the beginning of each class year, prior to regular classes starting up, there will be either an open
audition or a personal invitation meeting. If there is an open audition, students will take a week of
classes that concentrate on sharpening technique and teaching audition routines. On Saturday, a
panel of three (3) or more independent judges will score the students on various aspects of their
performance. These scores, along with teacher evaluation, will determine who will join West
Garrett Dance Company.
The auditions are closed to auditioning students only. The scores and comments made by the
judges are property of West Garrett Dance Company and will not be released to anyone.
If it is a year for personal invitation meeting, Miss Lori will send a letter letting potential members
know the date and time of the meeting. Potential members and their parents/guardians must attend.
Students may be chosen on temporary basis by the Director under extenuating circumstances.
How Much Does It Cost?
When we have classes, the classes are only $15.00 each month. There are company costumes
that are the responsibility and property of the company member. These vary in cost. The
competitions and conventions attended also have costs that vary.
What are the responsibilities and expectations of members?
The responsibilities as a student and parent/guardian are to:
Make all efforts to be at all classes and rehearsals scheduled and to be on time.
Check the posted schedule of activities and performances every week.
Communicate all schedule conflicts to Miss Lori as soon as you are aware of them.

Keep it fun!

and performances attended as a company.
